Not much to say. I’m just a happy chica today. Our girl is home and her slew of college friends are arriving in droves at tha house! I can’t contain my happiness – keep running around in circles not knowing which lap to go to next. More belly rubbing than any one Chica can take. But I’m not quite ready to share, so don’t get any ideas. I’m basking in all the LOOOOOVE.
Today’s Spring Break agenda:
- early dance class for the ballerinas – you should see me on my tippy toes fluttering about
- a stop at the Taco Bus – delightful soft pork tacos with cheeeeeeeeeeese
- beach day – sunglasses, SPF, and people watching, this IS the life
- a nice Picadillo, rice and beans dinner by the Mama with all the trimmings – Cuban bread, platanos, avocado … Ahhhhhh …
- Maybe a movie and some gelato later.
What else could a Chica ask for! Hallelujah, I’ve died and gone to heaven. Adios for now, amigos!!

The anticipation and excitement continues! While Mama continues with her frantic preparations for the much anticipated arrival of the spring breakers this weekend, there has been a lot said about a certain someone (heh, heh, the fickle Cato) and his shedding all over the furniture. Bad enough that we have tumbleweeds of Cato hair rolling around over the tile floors now that the AC has to be turned on in the afternoons. Mama is now threatening with a spring shearing 🙂 She says it is “all the rage in Paris!” Ha! But of course I know that tone in her voice means otherwise. I’ve been on the receiving end of that look once or twice. So I’m wisely scurrying around with my tail tucked into invisibility, keeping well out of the way of the flurry of cleaning activity and hanging on to all my hair follicles.
El Cato better watch out! He won’t be oh so threatening running around the house in his bare “skivvies.” (Heh, heh, though I think I’d pay to see that.) And speaking of cute kitties you must see, OK, I must admit, this little guy is cute even though he IS a cato. Watch this video and meet the new little Cheetah cub at the Busch Gardens, Florida:
He hasn’t been named yet, but with all that chirping maybe Tweety would be appropriate.

Only two days until Spring Break!! And that means that our girl is coming home from college just to see ME!!!!! But if that was not exciting enough, this year she is bringing FOUR of her college girlfriends with her – all fellow dancers. I guess that is one of the benefits of being the family from Florida when kids go away to college. Mama is busy cleaning and stocking the refrigerator. Meanwhile, I am busy planning their itinerary:
Mid-morning: Big breakfast, including scrambled eggs which must be shared with the Chihuahua because “they are muy buenos for my glossy coat”
Lunchtime: Beach, Baby!! Don’t forget the Sunblock! (And don’t forget to share the picnic cold cuts with the Chica who is looking out for you)
Late afternoon: Home for an excellent Taco dinner prepared by the Mama. And while we wait, we institute the community belly rub system: rub and scratch the Chica’s belly; then pass the Chihuahua to the next available lap.
Evening: Girl movie night! Pass the popcorn and the adorable Chihuahua for noggin scratching.
Late night: Merriment and play fetch in the living room with the Chihuahua – kisses are accepted as rewards for job well done.
Nite-nite time: We all need our beauty sleep. Chihuahua gets to play musical beds and take turns snuggling with everyone throughout the night.
Re … you get the picture 🙂
Mama suspects that we might even have a few more spring breakers showing up when our boy’s friends find out we have a houseful of college girls. We expect a lot of them will be knocking on our door with feeble excuses – “My mom was wondering if she could borrow a cup of sugar,” “Your newspaper was getting wet with the sprinklers,” or “Do you need your lawn mowed?” No problem, chicos. The more guests at this Chihuahualove fiesta the better for meeeee.
Welcome to the Glynn Inn, chicas! Mi casa es su casa!! Can’t wait!!!

On a beautiful day like today here in Florida, I can’t help but feel grateful to be such a lucky chica. This week has been a tough one in the news – such terrifying disasters and sad turmoil all over the world. But even in the worst of times, we sometimes catch a ray of hope when we hear of miracles and good causes all around us, and we just know we must share these inspiring stories:
Many of you have probably seen the touching story of the two dogs that somehow survived the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. One of them was injured, but his faithful friend, probably terribly scared, hungry and cold, still stood guard by his injured friend until they were rescued. Thankfully two reporters found them and were able to alert folks who rescued them.
HEART, the united effort of several rescue groups in Japan, has put together a Facebook page both for people in these devastated areas to alert them if they spot animals that needs to be rescued, as well as to raise funds to care for the many displaced and injured animals. Please like their page and help spread the word!
Much closer to home, as reported on tampabay.com, Fanny the poodle looks after her sweet girl, Jennifer, who suffers from cerebral palsy and epilepsy. Fanny can somehow anticipate Jennifer’s seizures and alerts the parents. Fanny is a service dog from a non-profit organization called Four Paws for Abilities. Check out the sweet video story and the website.
A lucky or better said dedicated photographer, caught some lovely pictures of the endangered Florida panther. The normally shy kitties seemed not to mind this time. Beautiful works of nature that we need to treasure and protect! Check out the story and pictures, a full report on the plight of the panthers and a website where you can find out how you might help.
And finally, on a much lighter note, if you happen to be out and about in my neck of St. Petersburg, Florida on April 2, don’t miss “Paws for the Arts,” the Canterbury School fundraising event for the arts programs. All Pawcassos and Salvadog Dalis are invited to come create their very own masterpieces. Here’s their event page and the flyer my Mama helped put together for the extravaganza.
I’ll be there bright and early with a muy chic beret and saucy saunter. Come on by and let’s wow the humans with our creative stylings! Hasta la vista, chicos!! And don’t forget to do your favorite exercise – Saturday pet blog hopping 🙂

My Mama snuck off for a couple of days. Not that I can blame or resent her much – she went to visit our girl away at college. Our princess is studying and working hard to become a ballerina and she was performing in her first professional capacity as a guest artist with the Kansas City Ballet in Giselle. Mom says she was phenomenal and the critics agreed!!
Anyhow, I am getting somewhere with this story. Do you remember the story about Noel – the little chihuahua that had been abandoned or lost by the side of the road in the middle of the harsh K.C. winter? She had been so exposed to the harsh cold that we did not know if she’d recover. Well, we have an update!!
Noel is healing beautifully. The membranes over her eyes have almost disappeared completely. And her soft fur is growing back in. She has gained plenty of weight, and though she is still shy, once she warms up to you she is a total love, a real lap hog. That could be a problem, but you’ll have to read on to find out why 🙂
As anyone could expect, the foster mom, my Aye (gramma) and my girl have all fallen in love with sweet Noel. So they have decided that they are ALL going to adopt her together in a “shared custody” agreement – during the school year while my Dani is super busy, Aye and the foster mom will look after Noel. They live right across the street from each other so it will be easy. And Noel can play with my K.C. sisters, Juanita and Panchita anytime. Mom took some picture so you could check out my seeeesters:
THEN, and this is where it gets interesting, when summer break comes, everyone is hoping Noel can come home with our girl and stay with us in Florida. Heh, heh, that of course would require cooperation from yours truly. So we are all preparing for a “test drive” in May. We have a big family get together planned here in St. Petersburg, so Aye is bringing all the K.C. Chihuahuas to visit. I get to see my seeeesters, which will be loads of fun. But I also get to meet my new part-time sissy, Noel.
Ta … ta … taaaaaaaaa …
Keep your paws crossed!! This story WILL definitely continue 😉 Oh, and check out this lovely picture of my sisters’ back yard in K.C. Beautiful, but I’m glad they are coming to visit me in sunny Florida 😉

We had ourselves an impromptu neighborhood association meeting during today’s walk. And who can blame us. We can’t resist the urge to share the latest gossip.
And now for the board minutes:
Have you seen Mr 1876’s new landscaping? Muy nice. I can’t wait to “explore” all over that flower bed!
Did you hear that Mr. and Mrs. 1745 have a loose board on their backyard fence? We can go visit Jesse anytime and no one will know! Partyyyyy! I’ll bring the Cheerios!
Yeah, the bunnies have been looking for a yard to nest in again. Be on the look out! A whole bunch of them jumped out of the ground all of a sudden the other day and almost gave me a heart attack!
There have been various reports by the neighborhood watch committee about the pesky squirrels getting a little rambunctious lately. Maybe it is the spring, maybe it is the pollen. Do you guys have your despicable squirrels under control? Ours have gotten a little brazen lately. They’ve been throwing acorns down at me from the roof. Why I oughta …
Hey, did you guys notice Fluffy the poodle’s new hair do? No, don’t stare!! Ah … rather unfortunate, I’d say. And this humidity is not helping. But thankfully, it will grow back out 😉 No, just wave and smile like everything is OK.
Ciao, bellos. Same time tomorrow then.
Whoops, how could I forget! Happy Saturday Pet Blog Hop!!

I’ve chased and fetched my fair share of tennis balls. OK, so not exactly “fetched” considering the size of my snoot, but I give it a good try. However, this morning I was out and about neighborhood patrolling and looking for material for another installment of Little Chihuahua adventures in a big world, when I swear I ran into this beast!
I stopped dead in my tracks … thankfully, it wasn’t moving. I gave it the “GRRR, grrrrrrrrr” test … blessedly, there was no response. Maybe it WAS just a tennis ball. I approached it carefully …
… pushed it with my fearless, all-knowing nose and … yup, after further investigation, I’m glad to report that it was no alien ship. Just a “tennis ball,” but it WAS that big! I’d hate to see the racket. I think I’ll stick to my side of the street.
Back to my patrol. Mañana, Chicos!
